Walk through the heart of Raiatea and discover bamboo forests and 3 waterfalls along your route.
Start this beautiful adventure at the foot of Mount Temehani, the highest point of the island. The path snakes its way between giant roots of Mape (Tahitian chestnut trees), following the river. The bamboos remind us of the past of the valley, an ancient inhabited place. While you’re exploring the lush forest, you might run into the mythical tiare apetahi, the rare flower that only wants to grow on mount Temehani. Despite all the efforts of botanists, it just won’t grow on any other place on earth. Your guide will not miss to tell you the legend surrounding this delicate flower. The 3 waterfalls are to be discovered one after the other during the hike. Once you have arrived at the top, enjoy a well deserved swim in an enchanting setting.
The hiking guides contribute to the cultural heritage’s enhancement by creating trails for the culture and tourism department of Raiatea.
