Learn how to navigate around Tahiti, in the lagoon or at sea, aboard a Polynesian traditional outrigger canoe. Discover the traditional methods of our maohi ancestors and sail away listening to the most famous legends of Tahiti.
Ancient Polynesians undertook their great exploratory migrations aboard beautiful, big outrigger canoes (called va’a in Tahitian) using the ancestral way, following the stars and paying attention to both wind and swell. This technique remains quite popular nowadays. Set sail for an adventure in an outrigger canoe similar to the ancient one during an introduction to navigation ! Discover Tahiti from the ocean, get to know its history, its legends and myths and learn how to navigate like a real maohi during an unforgettable nautical excursion.
Choose both departure and arrival sites, for example: the infamous PK18 beach, the lagoon of Punaauia near the Taapuna surf spot, or even the peninsula of Tahiti (Teahupoo or Fenua Aihere). The monitors are professional and flexible offering different outings at different times of the day : morning, afternoon or sunset. You can discover either the lagoon of Tahiti and enjoy snorkeling breaks to discover the underwater fauna and flora or venture at sea for intense sensations.
The outrigger canoes are reliable and built in hi-tech materials. One can accomodate up to 4 passengers and has 2 built-in nets for more comfort. The nagivation itself is entirely traditionnal as no electronic or modern devices are used.
