Fly fishing in French Polynesia

Fly fishing in salt water, especially the Bonefish fishing (Ioio in Tahitian), becomes more and more popular. French Polynesia and more precisely the Tuamotu archipelago is the perfect place for fly fishing!

The Turquoise clear waters of the Tuamotu’s lagoon are the perfect spots for the practice of this very popular sport.
The Bonefish is a species less consumed by the inhabitants of the atolls. However, all fishermen know and tell they have captured bonefish in great quantity into the “fish parks”.
With the development of tourism in these distant atolls, the practice of fly fishing begins to democratize. Today, more and more providers offer “fly fishing” excursions.

The atolls selected by Moana Voyages to practice fly fishing:

>> Tikehau: considered by Jacques Cousteau’s research group as the highest concentration of fish among any other Tuamotu atolls.
>> Rangiroa: has superb flats to fish for fly fishing.
