Enjoy a challenging hike in Raiatea, up to the rocky plateau of Temehani, located in the heart of the island.
One of the highlights of your visit in Raiatea!
The walk begins in the shade of the tall pine trees, abundant greenery, plants, and flowers. As you arrive on the crest, enjoy a wonderful panorama of the lagoon and neighbouring islands: Taha’a, Huahine, Bora Bora and Maupiti. Make sure to spot the Tiare Apetahi, a delicate, white, five-petaled flower that is so rare it grows nowhere else on Earth but on this mountain. Your guide will not miss to tell you the legend surrounding this endemic flower. Finall,y after crossing several small clear water rivers, you’ll arrive at the top of the Temehani Mountain, overlooking the entire east coast of Raiatea.
The hiking guides contribute to the cultural heritage’s enhancement by creating trails for the culture and tourism department of Raiatea.
